As an Associate Professor at the School of Media and Communication Studies (SMCS), University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore, Pakistan, I was honoured to represent SMCS at the 5th International Conference on Media Science and Digital Communication (MSDC 2025). The conference provided an excellent opportunity to present my research, engage with international scholars, and contribute to meaningful academic discussions.

This experience was particularly special because SMCS, UMT proudly served as an Academic Partner of MSDC 2025. Our collaboration with The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), strengthened through a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), continues to create valuable opportunities for faculty and students to participate in international academic activities, promote research collaborations, and strengthen global partnerships.
When I received the invitation to participate in MSDC 2025, I was genuinely excited. I had heard a great deal about the conference and looked forward to being part of such a prestigious international platform. I expected an engaging academic experience, and the conference certainly lived up to those expectations. From the quality of the research presentations to the interactive discussions, every session reflected professionalism and academic excellence.

I had the privilege of contributing to the conference in multiple roles—as a Session Chair, a Member of the Evaluation Panel, and an Oral Presenter. Each role offered a unique perspective and enriched my overall experience. Chairing sessions and evaluating research papers allowed me to engage with diverse ideas, appreciate innovative research, and interact with scholars from different academic and cultural backgrounds.
One of the highlights of my participation was presenting my research titled “Cyber Violence and Journalistic Silence: Exploring Self-Censorship Among Female Journalists in Pakistan.” The study explores how cyber harassment affects the professional lives of female journalists, influencing their confidence, mental well-being, and editorial decisions. Presenting this work before an international audience was both exciting and rewarding. The audience interaction was thoughtful, and the questions and feedback offered valuable perspectives that will help shape the future direction of this research.
The conference itself was exceptionally well organized. Every session was carefully planned, presentations were conducted smoothly, and participants were given ample opportunities to engage in discussion. Whether participating as a presenter, session chair, or evaluator, I found the entire experience highly professional and intellectually stimulating.
The keynote addresses and panel discussions were among the highlights of the conference. I was especially proud that our Dean, Dr. Anjum Zia, was one of the keynote speakers, reflecting the academic excellence and international recognition of SMCS. The discussions throughout the conference were insightful and encouraged participants to exchange ideas, reflect on emerging challenges, and explore new directions in media and digital communication research.
Although I participated virtually because of funding limitations, I remained actively engaged throughout the conference. At the same time, the experience made me realize how valuable in-person participation can be. Academic conferences are not only about presenting research but also about the informal conversations, networking opportunities, and professional relationships that develop beyond the conference sessions. I sincerely hope to attend the next edition of MSDC in person and look forward to meeting fellow researchers, strengthening existing collaborations, and building new academic partnerships.
I extend my heartfelt appreciation to The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM) and the entire organizing committee for hosting such a professionally managed and intellectually enriching conference. Their commitment to academic excellence has established MSDC as an outstanding international platform for researchers in media and communication studies.
Representing SMCS and UMT at MSDC 2025 was a truly enriching experience that strengthened my research perspective and reaffirmed the importance of international academic collaboration. I look forward to participating in future editions of MSDC, contributing new research, and continuing to engage with the global scholarly community.
